FORMATTING REQUIREMENTS

For The Writers: Formatting Requirement Guide for All Submissions


At For The Writers, we strive to create a seamless experience for contributors and reviewers alike. To ensure your submission is reviewed promptly and effectively, we ask that all submissions adhere to the following formatting requirements. These guidelines help maintain consistency across submissions and make the process smoother for everyone involved.


 

General Formatting Guidelines


  • File Format: Please submit your work as a .doc, .docx, or .pdf file. These formats ensure compatibility across our review platforms.

  • Font: Use Times New Roman, 12-point size for all submissions.

  • Spacing: Double-space your document to allow for clear readability and notes during the review process.

  • Margins: Use 1-inch margins on all sides of your document.

  • Page Numbers: Include page numbers in the upper right-hand corner of your document.


 

Specific Requirements by Genre


  • Fiction and Creative Nonfiction:

    • Include a word count on the first page of your submission in the top right corner.

    • For short stories and essays, limit submissions to 5,000 words or less.

  • Poetry:

    • Submit up to five poems per document.

    • Begin each poem on a new page.

  • Visual Art and Photography:

    • Submit high-resolution images in .jpg or .png format.

    • Include a brief description or title for each piece.


 

Submission Cover Page


All written submissions must include a cover page with the following information. Cover pages may not exceed one single-spaced page.


  1. Your full name and all pertinent contact information, including email and phone number.

  2. Title(s) of your work, as well as genres/categories as necessary.

  3. A concise biography of who you are and your literary journey thus far.

  4. A brief synopsis of the work being submitted.
